Detroit, next on the agenda

I’m working on finding interviewees for our upcoming trip to Detroit, scheduled for the first week in August.  Today, I placed a follow-up phone call to Melvin Gupton, Deputy Director of the Detroit Workforce Development Department.  He is on furlough today, due to city cost-cutting measures.  I then tried the mayor’s office.  Also closed.  That’s depressing news for anyone desperately seeking employment.
