Dr. Carl Van Horn

Last month, jobless claims unexpectedly rose again in the United States, and older unemployed workers continue to face a difficult and  job search process.

In this short video clip, Dr. Carl E. Van Horn, professor of public policy and director of the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University and one of the authors of The New Unemployables:  Older Job Seekers Struggle to Find Work During the Great Recession offers encouragement to  older job seekers and advises them to keep re-applying and stay connected to find work again.

“Even when the economy is in bad shape,” Van Horn said, “there’s still millions of openings every year.”

Next week, we will post his full video interview online.
